MICHAEL J MURPHY

Greetings! I am a Distinguished Teaching Professor, Emeritus from the State University of New York and Honored Professor, Emeritus at Zhejiang University of Technology in Hangzhou, China where I taught most recent summers. Currently, I am an adjunct professor at Siena College where I teach the Morals and Medicine course.  My background includes developing the ethics and the biotechnology curricula for our SUNY campus as well as formal course work in biomedical ethics and regularly attending Ethics Grand Rounds at Albany Medical College. I have completed the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ethics as well as my second doctorate (biomedical ethics) at the Alden March Bioethics Institute. I have publications in these fields and was awarded a Fulbright Senior Scholar award to the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava for 3 months in 2022. This occurred as the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out - making the border country visit, more "interesting" and concerning than anticipated. My first Fulbright was to the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. My main interests include clinical ethics, ethics in science, the ethical uses of emerging technologies, and ethics in pharmaceutical sciences.

   I also play Renaissance and Medieval winds with an Albany, NY - based group called the Bleecker Consort and perform/sing with various theater and vocal/choral groups.
